FEEDBACK: ACCREDITATION BY HOME OWNERS ASSOCATION

IEASA National is pleased to announce the favourable outcome of negotiations between IEASA and the Association of Residential Communities (ARC), on behalf of their respective members.

Attached please find a copy of the press release detailing the progress to date.

A document entitled Best Practice Guidelines has been released and is available to our members for download from IEASA’s website www.ieasa.org.za. This is a living document and we welcome comments and input for future revisions.

This document is merely a Best Practices Guideline and can not or is not meant to enforce onto Residential Estates but rather be used to convince Estates in the spirit of collaboration. Should dialogue and collaboration fail then IEASA and ARC as a team endeavour to assist in further discussions with the decision makers of specific Residential Estates. This process is not a quick fix and it will require time and patience to implement successfully.

Legal action is not being considered at this stage and will only be addressed if and when we have to cross that bridge with specific individual Estates. Various letters of communication are being prepared for the use of individual affected agents in order to correctly communicate this issue. These letters will be drawn up in such a way to also be legally correct.

Once finalized, these will be made available to only IEASA members who are affected and have contributed R500 to the Institute’s HOA pro-forma letters and fund.  It you have already contributed to the fund these will be made available to you free of charge.  These monies will be ring-fenced for use for any matters that may arise in this regard.  Should you wish to avail yourself of this opportunity, please complete the Order Form below.

We would like to thank all of you have been active participants on this important issue to date, our members and our National and North regional boards.  We trust you will agree that the outcome is a positive one for, in particular our members who brought this matter to our attention for action, and for the industry as a whole. We also want to thank ARC (Association of Residential Communities) whole-heartedly for their effort in this regard.
