Comments from IEA national president Bill Rawson
The Institute of Estate Agents of South Africa has reacted to the resignation of Stanley Moshidi after four years as CEO of the Estate Agency Affairs Board. IEA national president Bill Rawson says that during the past two years, the IEA and the EAAB had begun to work more closely in the interests of the property industry, and that Moshidi had played a leading role in several initiatives in the interests of the industry and its consumers. The IEA wishes Moshidi every success in his new role as a judge, and looks forward to the appointment of a successor to pick up the reins at the EAAB. The IEA's role is to promote the interests of the industry, while the EAAB's is to regulate it and protect consumers. "Relations between the EAAB and the industry - as represented by the IEA - improved during Mr Moshidi's tenure as CEO," says Rawson. "In particular, we should commend him for reinstating a regional inspectorate (on a trial basis), for publishing FICA guidelines for the industry to follow, for his involvement in the development of the new national qualifications for the industry, and for setting up a task team to promote transformation.. "Last year too, at the request of the industry and the IEA, he incurred the displeasure of the Department of Trade & Industry by publishing long overdue EAAB financial reports which the DTI had not yet approved. "We wish Stanley Moshidi every success in his new position on the Bench, and we trust that his successor at the EAAB will be appointed soon."
