Institute reopens in Free State and Northern Cape

Article Date :6 Oct 2006

Inaugural meeting, held in Bloemfontein on 29 September

The Institute of Estate Agents of South Africa (IEASA) has reopened its Free State & Northern Cape regional Institute, which had been closed for several years. The inaugural meeting, held in Bloemfontein on 29 September, was attended by 220 members, as well as IEASA national president Dr Willie Marais and guest speaker Prof Henk Delport. Jaco de Lange was elected as regional chairman.

The Free State & Northern Cape institute was formed in 1932 as a provincial estate agency association, and merged with the other provinces' associations to form the IEASA in 1937. Membership is open to all registered estate agents in the Free State province and the Northern Cape. To ensure that local interests are fairly represented, directors have been appointed to represent regions: Bloemfontein/Central, Northern Free State, Eastern Free State, Goldfields, and Northern Cape.

"The response to the re-launch of the Institute in this region has been very encouraging," said Jaco de Lange "Estate agents want a professional home, and that's what the Institute is there for. It provides professional support and guidance, training, and social interaction. With the Property Charter and the industry's new compulsory qualifications in the pipeline, we expect our role in the professional lives of our members to grow in the next few years."

The IEASA Free State & Northern Cape region offers its members a range of benefits, including a contact management facility, and an online advertising service. However, its primary focuses are representation and communication, including training, and it has sourced a panel of training providers to present courses, workshops, and seminars.
