Institute's largest region
The Institute of Estate Agents (Western Cape) continues its consolidation as the Institute’s largest region with its membership of 1 656 increasing to 1 735 in the period from September to March. This, it proudly announces, is an average of 13 new members every month. Also, since September when the new committee took office, the region, according to regional general manager Vivien Marks in her half-year report, has held five sales courses, eight EAAB exam courses and 14 other courses and seminars. Just over 900 people have been trained during the period. The region is also in the process of having its training centre and regular trainers accredited with the Services SETA. Mrs Marks says “this will add value to our courses because not only will they carry a stamp of approval from a government authority, but they will enable firms to claim skills levy grants if their agents and staff attend our courses.” Between April and September the Western Cape region intends holding a further three sales and eight EAAB exam courses. The region also intends launching a pilot project on April 2 to provide skills training for registered estate agents from historically marginalized communities.
